2010 CANDO CURB APPEAL AWARDS - RESIDENCE INN, HAZLETON
September 25, 2010
CAN DO, Greater Hazleton's economic development agency, presented its third annual Curb Appeal Awards to industrial park tenants that have beautified and maintained the visual appeal of their properties.
The awards were presented to companies in Humboldt, Humboldt North, McAdoo and Valmont industrial parks and the CAN DO Corporate Center during an industry mixer held Wednesday at Residence Inn by Marriott in Humboldt Station.
"CAN DO sincerely appreciates the efforts that these winners have put into creating and maintaining their attractive properties. The Curb Appeal Awards program was established to recognize these companies for the efforts they make in beautifying their properties," CAN DO President Kevin O'Donnell said.
CAN DO Secretary Lonnie Polli, co-chair of the Curb Appeal Awards Subcommittee, praised the companies for caring "about the everyday representation they are making to their employees and to the Greater Hazleton community. Their actions promote the betterment of the parks and the overall business climate in the Hazleton area, as these companies can take pride in what they have accomplished."
The Curb Appeal Award plaques were presented in two categories: companies with one to 75 employees in their local facility and companies with more than 75 employees.
Winners in the one-to-75 category are Tootsie Roll Industries, Humboldt Industrial Park; PSI Container Inc., McAdoo Industrial Park, and International Paper - Hazleton Converting, Valmont Industrial Park.
Winners in the 75-and-up category are Network Solutions, LLC, CAN DO Corporate Center; Michaels Stores Procurement Co., Humboldt Industrial Park; Gonnella Frozen Products, LLC, Humboldt North; Altadis USA Inc., McAdoo Industrial Park, and the Dial Corp., a Henkel company, Valmont Industrial Park.
Michaels was named the overall winner and received the top award in the program.
"The Michaels property really stands out when it comes to curb appeal. The landscaping and maintenance combine to make a very attractive property in Humboldt Industrial Park. That's why Michaels earned the overall award in this year's Curb Appeal Awards program," said Curb Appeal co-chair Gary Danish.
